For two days, representatives from all SFUs in Norway was gathered in Bergen for a network meeting.

After a general introduction to HK-dir and their working areas, by division head for competence and higher education Ragnhild Tungesvik, our own Catherine Bovill took over the show with an introduction to co-creation in the curriculum with the title “towards inclusive practice”.

This was followed by a workshop exploring practices within a framework for student participation. Hearing from other SFUs how they are thinking about this concept was very stimulating and the discussions continued into the lunch break.

After lunch we had workshops on midterm evaluation, dissemination, internationalization and exit strategies for the SFUs. All very relevant topics for us in our work!

Day two of the meeting was at the Department of Earth Science in Realfagsbygget. We got a slot in the morning to present iEarth and our activities and we got very good feedback on our work. The morning was used on a presentation by Professor Alexander Refsum Jensenius (UiO) on the NOR-CAM report which is a flexible and holistic framework for evaluation of an academic career. The ambition is to develop a guide for more transparency within the evaluation of the different indicators for academic success. Important questions are e.g., What skills are needed for the position to be filled? How well does one's own competence fit the position advertised? What are the requirements for promotion? The guide is flexible but offers a systematic and structured framework for assessments.

After this we had two stimulating workshops on implementation of SDGs in the curriculum and on how to document effect of cultural changes. During the lunch break we displayed many of the posters from the GeoLearning forum in addition to posters brought by the participants. It was very nice to feel that we are part of a bigger family and interesting to see how many of the problems we are working on are common across the disciplines represented by the different SFUs.
