Thursday 11th of May the iEarth students in Bergen together with GFU and GFFU arranged a career day for the students at the Department of Earth Science at UiB.

Vår Energi, Åkerblå, Shearwater, B&G tunnel, Bergen Kommune, Norconsult, Equinor, Multiconsult, 360 Energy, Meterologisk Institutt, Deep Ocean, Adepth Minerals, Mesta, HI, W. GieartsenTunnel and Tekna were all present at the career day. The day kicked off at Integrerbar where Sammen career held a presentation about competence mapping, a tool to map what skills you gain during your education and how to use it when applying for jobs. Afterwards Equinor held a company presentation, presenting career possibilities within the company. Pizzas were served for lunch while the companies introduced themselves.

After lunch everybody moved up to the third floor at Realfagsbygget (UiB) where the companies were ready to meet and talk to the students. There was also presentations by NFF (Norsk Forening for Fjellsprengningsteknikk), Vår Energi and Multiconsult at the same time. The day was very successful with around 120 students showing up during daytime event.

In the eventing, 75 students and 25 representatives from the companies met at 360 Exhibition for dinner and socializing. iEarth, GFU and GFFU are very happy with the event, it was incredible fun to see how many students turned up. Hopefully this continues as a yearly event.

One of the students who participated both at the daytime and evening event said that: “It was an fantastic opportunity to talk to the different companies, through both conversations and presentations. I got a valuable insight into the different opportunities a geoscientist has”.
